The end of the year

Hi everyone

Just wanted to let you know after the joyous frenzy of Gettazine, club business is going to be at a standstill for a little while. Feel free to contact me any time regarding your personal zine projects, or the zine library. We have been working on cataloging all the zines in the zine library. We will be doing this intermittently for the rest of the year. If you have a laptop and are interested in helping with this project, please le me know and i will let you know when we will be there next. For everyone else, please go and check out the zine library sometime soon (In the room with all the plants int he library). We have redone all the signage and are very proud of it. There is also a guestbook now! So check that out too!

We will have at least one more metting in a few weeks. I have had to get another job because just liek everyone else I am super poor. So my time is really really limited for the rest of the year, but we'll figure somehting out.

Good luck with the tail end of the semester, friends! Make a tiny zine if you g et a chance!

Less than a week til Gettazine!

Hey everyone!

Just a reminder that Gettazine is THIS THURSDAY AND FRIDAY! holy cow! that is so soon!

Preparations are going extremely well. I hope you are all as excited as me. Thanks to everyone who has been helping out with prep. Especially Thea and Erin for hanging up flyers all over the school (you will see them on monday) and leslie for pressing the buttons over the weekend, and of course everyone who contributed to On the Cusp #2. It looks great! It is being printed right now!

Our next meeting, and the last before Gettazine will be this Tuesday at 6pm in room A137.

PLEASE everyone who can come. It is a very important meeting ,just so we can confirm everything for Gettazine and do all the last minute stuff. We will be putting On the Cusp #2 together at this time.

upcoming meetings

Our next meeting will be Friday January 30 at 12:00pm in the LIBRARY (by the zine library)
- meeting goals: define all that needs to be done for gettazine, assign tasks, create flyers, select all final button designs

After that we will meet Tuesday February 3 at 6pm in room A137
-meeting goals: distribute flyers to have handed out/ posted, create all activity centres (posters etc.)

Next: Friday February 6 at 12:00 pm in the Library
-meeting goals: finalization of all plans for Gettazine, bind and collate On The Cusp #2

The week after that is the week of Gettazine. I will announce that week's meetings when I have them available.
PLEASE NOTE: Gettazine is taking place on Thursday February 13 and Friday February 13 from 12-5pm in the Atrium (outside the Connexion)
We will need as much help as possible so PLEASE LET ME KNOW if you will be available to volunteer. (it doesnt matter if youve never even been to a meeting, this is a great way to get to know clulb members and have fun doing zine things)

Keep in mind: we are still accepting button submissions. Email me if you need a copy of the template. Also, submissions for On The Cusop #2 are due so GET THEM INTO ME asap. (5.5" x 8.5 " vertical format. Any topic, any content, 1-4 pages per applicant, black and white only. All participants get a free copy of the finished zine!)

Welcome Back!

Hello Self Publishers!

A new semester is upon us, and I don't know about you but I am excited to get back to school. We will be starting SSP business fresh and early this year. 9am on Monday Morning (the 12th) will be our first meeting. We are going to get ready for, and then participate in the Clubs Fair. We need as much help as possible since we will be putting everything together THAT DAY. (My schedule is packed from now until then and I dont have time to get anything ready before then. but don't worry, we'll be fine) The clubs fair starts at 11am in the B-Wing hallway, at which point I will only need 1 or two people. We wil be selling buttons and zines and handing out flyers, so if you have anythingt os ell get it to me monday morning. We need as much help as we can get, so anyone who doesn't have class PLEASE COME. What better way to start off your year then hanging otu with your zine friends?

ALSO: Our First official meeting will be on Wednesday January 14th at 5pm in the zine library. At this meeting we will begin our plans for Gettazine 2009, and talk abot the future of the Sheridan Self Publishers. we iwll also be adding a fresh new stock to the zine library, so be sure to show up to see what's new and awesome in our zine collection.

Dont Forget. Gettazine is taking place this year on February 5 and 6 from 12-5 pm in the atrium outside the Connexion.

Also: Our next group zine, On the Cusp #2 is going to be compiled rather quickly so we can have it ready for Gettazine. Submissions are due Friday January 23rd. 1-4 pages per member, ANYtHING YOU WANT ON IT (black and white only though) 5.5" x 8" vertical format. You may submit your page digitally, or hand it to me in person. Anyone who participates in On the Cusp gets a free copy when it is printed. Stories, poetry, rants, photographs, drawings, connect the dots, collages, ANYTHING YOU WANT.
