There is a big ZINE FAIR in October called CANZINE.

We will be taking a bus from SHERIDAN COLLEGE to the GLADSTONE HOTEL on QUEEN STREET WEST on Sunday October 26 in the morning, and returning in the late afternoon.
the trip will cost 4$ per person.
this is significantly cheaper than public transit.

2008-2009 Overview of Events and Activites
Yesterdays Meeting - Minutes
Yesterday's meeting went very well. We had 8 people in attendance. Below is a brief recap of the things we discussed for those of you who missed the meeting.

Thursday September 11th - First Meeting of the Year
Introductions
We all introduced ourselves and talked about our history with zine culture and what we are hoping to gain from the club.
Overview of Last Year
We went over our year with Sheridan Self Publishers last year, and talked about the different things we did and how great it was.
Overview of This Year
We went over things to expect for this year. Meetings will be approximately every other week at 6pm on Monday (room to be announce depending on activity). We will have guest speakers, field trips, film viewings, 3 group zine projects (maybe more) and of course Gettazine 2009 will take place in February. There is more, too! You're gonna love it! (see the next post for more details)
What is a Zine?
Brief history of zine culture. We discussed what a zine is, why people make zines, and why zines are great! We looked at some great examples of all the zines we got donated to us this summer!
Best time for meetings.
We took a vote and decided the best time for meetings would be Mondays at 6pm. Sorry for anyone this doesn't work for.
News and Announcements
NEXT WEEK - Thursday September 18 - we will be having a Cut and Paste Party Fundraiser in the lounge above the Connection from 10am-2pm
NEXT MEETING - Will take place on Monday September 22 at 6pm. Room to be announced. We will be discussing layout and begin the 24 hour zine project.

Hey Everyone!
Welcome to a new year at Sheridan, and a new, even more radical year with the Sheridan Self Publishers.
We are going to be doing a LOT this year. Group zines, individual zines, field trips, guest speakers, zine fairs and MORE! I am very very excited and I hope you are too.
I will tell you all about this upcoming year at our first meeting.
The first meeting will be very informal, I am going to let you know what to expect over the semester, and then we are going to pour over all the many many donations we got for the zine library over the summe r(200-300, i think).
This will give you a good introduction to what zines are, and hopefully get you all fired up for the year ahead.
THE FIRST MEETING WILL BE MONDAY SEPTEMBER 8, 2008 at 4:00 pm in room A137.
